Things seem to be slowly coming together, what a relief.  This week was one of major progress, thanks to some hired help.  Money well spent! (I think Al would agree too)

Last weekend was very full preparing for the texture/paint guys to come in on Monday.  We worked all weekend and had the place completely empty.  I have had my fill for a lifetime in removing wallpaper.  I am also in denial that there is still one bathroom left with wallpaper.

Gerardo and his crew started Monday fixing some of the holes we created and some we didn’t.  Yes, the previous owners actually put a doggy door in the wallseriously?!?!  They also scrapped the popcorn texture off the second floor ceilings, and then retextured all of the ceilings and walls that orginially had wall paper.  After Al saw that they did good work and quickly, he got a quote to paint all of the ceilings, main areas (living, media, halls), and the closets.  Thankfully they were very reasonable and all of those areas are now painted.  This is a huge task that is completed and I wasn’t involved.  See pics here. :)

Friday one of Al’s friends came in and took out the old cast iron tub that was in the master bath, and put in the drain for the shower-to-be.   Before  |  After

Today was suppose to be Al’s day off from the house to work from home, but of course that didn’t happen.  I was glad to have him at the house with me and to see all he accomplished.  I was focused on cleaning the walls in the first guest room and then priming the crazy dark blue botton half of the walls.  Chad, my brother, came over for a few hours and helped prime the office.  I went back primed all the trim, corners, etc. and we are ready to get all the rooms painted.  My goal is to paint the master and the first guest room tomorrow.  Hopefully with Kelly’s help, it’ll get done.

We also purchased a few of the lights, which Al hung today.  He also began changing the switches, ran into some problems but the right type of switch should make it work ;)   He also removed the carpet and padding from the media area, stairs, living, and dining.  It is looking so good!

With the fresh new walls, the nasty carpet gone, and a few lights going up - I can actually see a home some where at the end of the tunnel.  These small changes make it more exciting, last week was more of the stress, so I am really happy.

On another note, I am also very happy to be sitting on my couch watching Tech get pounded by OU!  Just to clarify, I am in no way an OU fan.  But oh the joy to see Tech lose and watch the Horns move up.  Now we just have to go out there and play right Thursday.

Well that’s it for tonight.  Welcome to my first blog :)
