Unlike Al, I had no desire to work on the house last night. It’s funny because I want breaks from the house work at times, yet the ‘mess’ drives me bananas. Tuesday night I did a lot of work picking up, hanging a few pieces, etc. When one of the new wall art items I bought fell, broke into 7 pieces, and took chunks out of the new baseboard I just about lost it. This is when I called it a night.
So last night I decided to just relax and finish the book I started in NH. I generally read non-fiction books, and I like to think they are ones that have substance. From time to time I need a mindless read to change the pace. This latest book is just that – Are You There Vodka, It’s Me Chelsea. This is definitely the funniest book I have ever read. I caught myself laughing out loud on several occasions, this is a first for me while reading. It is by the comedian Chelsea Handler, who also has the show ‘Chelsea Lately’ (on E! I believe). If you are easily offended by cursing, alcohol, or the love of midgets this is not the book for you. To all others, especially if you find her show funny, you will love the book.
Next on my bookshelf to read Outliers: The Story of Success. This book is by Malcom Gladwell, who also wrote Blink – one of my favorite books. Back to ’substance’ or at least books that make you think.

Mal,
If you like books with a bit more substance you should check out: “Same Kind Of Different As Me” By Ron Moore and Denver Hall. We read it for the book club I am in and it just touches your heart and soul. It is one of those that once you finish you want to share it with everyone around you.
I can’t wait to meet you in person some day! Alvin just makes you sound even better than a pair of new shoes!!!!
