This past weekend was one for the record books in regards to Love, Rest, and Life.

Friday, we had dinner with Chad, Kel, and Maddie.  Maddie is growing so much.  She’s now sitting up on her own and holding her bottle.  In a lil’ bit, she’ll be talking up a storm and takin’ her first steps.  Time flies… when we’re having fun with Maddie! :)   Talking about time well spent…

Saturday, Mal and I had a very special Valentine’s weekend and she surprised me with a couples massage at Myo.  I was a little apprehensive at first about doing it, but it wasn’t a bad experience at all.  I thought it might be awkward allowing a complete stranger to rub on me if you will…  LOL! After the massage, I was ‘hyped’ up, going a hundred to nothing… But we had a laid back Valentine’s Day, and I’m thankful for Mal always bringing me to cross the bridge of new experiences.   Thank God for Mal!  Mal, I love you and you totally surprised me!!!!

20/20… after the horrendous week I had last week at work, it was just what the doctor ordered.  All the stress of worrying about this and that client wanting to drop rates/services, finding new clients and increasing services with existing clients, tenants not paying rent on time, wanting time extensions but not wanting to pay late charges, getting new tenants in vacant homes over the next 30 days, a ‘left field’ performance review, and a ruined birthday expectation… Whew, Mal and I both needed one word: Rest.

And that is exactly what I received starting on Friday and ending Sunday evening in the arms of the person I love: Mal.  Just to clear the mind of all that it had endured throughout the week, I had to realize and reinforce that God is ultimately in control of our lives and that I can no longer spend countless hours of energy entertaining that which I cannot change (Serenity Prayer chiming in).  Whatever is going to happen, will happen… when it needs to happen, when God wants it to happen…  Plain and simple!

Besides the wonderful massage experience, Saturday was spent sleeping and watching movies — at times they were watching us sleep!  :)

Lets see… Sunday, was somewhat awkward because we both got up and went our separate ways, cleaning and starting various chores.  It was a beautiful day… just the right temp!  Butter and Brice stayed outside a good portion of the day as we did our projects and cleaned.  Matter of fact, they were quite entertained as I started out my Sunday on Poop Scoop Control in the backyard.  YUCK! I didn’t really want to do it, but it to be done and I got’er done.  Now, we can walk and not look like we’re playing a game of twister in the backyard when playing with dogs or just walking around.  :)

My next task really made me think… Either I could finish tiling (yes, still tiling 3 going on 4 months into this project) the Master Bath and Fireplace, or get the kitchen in gear.  Seeing we have a functional bathroom upstairs, I opted to get the other side of the kitchen together.  So off to Lowe’s I went.

Once I arrived back, Mal was surprised to see that the other side of her Kitchen was coming together.  Not having a kitchen sink or range is not the most terrible thing, but it is riding a very high second on that list of terrible things to live without.  I installed two kitchen cabinet bases and our sink, rather temporary sink until we get the rest of the cabinets, appliances, and granite installed. This installation was quite smooth although I was unable to hook up the cold water connection due to not having the dishwasher yet.  Well, I could hook it up, but then I would have to change the valve connection again once the dishwasher arrives.  I would prefer to live without cold water.  Heck, the hot water takes a while to get hot anyway.  :)   In addition, I installed our washroom doors and dining room blinds.  They too proved to be less of a challenge…

    Next on our list…

    • Buy furniture for Bekah’s room
    • Install Interior Door / Door Casing, closet storage, and blind in Bekah’s room
    • Buy range for kitchen (LESS EATING OUT WHEN THIS HAPPENS!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!)
    • Caulk living / dining / master bed
    • Finish master closet storage, installing shoe racks / shelves, baseboards, and paint all
    • Install crown moulding in master bed / living / dining room, and install led lights
    • Install washroom door casing
    • Install breakfast area baseboards and window sill trim
    • Buy/install utility cabinet, and vertical/wall cabinets
    • Install cabinet / washroom door handles
    • Buy/install dishwasher, garbage disposal, and beverage center
    • Master bath vanity, vanity top, faucets

Until the next post… Live Life Full of Love and Like It Is Your Last Day!
