Wait, who’s Mal?
Stuart’s full name is Malcolm Stuart McNeal Watts IV. I started going by Stuart instead of Malcolm because there were three of us at one point, which would have caused confusion. Since then, and being the last one left, I have come to love the name Malcolm. Plus, how good does Al & Mal sound?!
When did Allie & Malcolm meet?
Allie and Malcolm met on a Wednesday night over 15 years ago in West Oakland, both 18 and 19. Allie was working as a photographer, and Malcolm was out with friends. It has been an instant connection ever since.
Where did Al & Mal get married?
After a year or two of trying to plan the perfect wedding, we were fed up with the process. We said, why not go to City Hall and do this thing asap! We got married a few weeks later, on April 23rd, 2025, at San Francisco’s City Hall, drove around the city having the time of our lives, and ended at a tiny bar with a handful of family and friends.
What have we been up to?
A couple of years ago, Allie left her job at Apple to work with Malcolm at their store, Locali Visitor Center, in SF’s North Beach. Since she stepped into the role, of course, the business has exploded! We have invested sweat, tears, and our savings into Locali, and it’s really starting to take off. We went viral internationally (which is a wild experience!), grew our team to nine people, expanded to a second location next door, and have even had a ribbon-cutting on our opening day with the mayor!
Why wait for a honeymoon?!
2025 was one of the most challenging years for us. We dealt with many adversities last year while celebrating many successes. Even when we got married, we only took the next day off for a Dim Sum brunch, and went back to work the following day. Now we can finally step away for an extended trip and enjoy our long-overdue honeymoon almost a year later!
